Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong is the current Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Akwa Ibom State.
He is an indigene of Uruk Usoh in Ikot Ekpene LGA and was born on 26th January 1965.

He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from Bishop King Memorial Primary School,Calabar, and his WASSCE from Government Secondary School,Nto Nsek and later earned a B.Sc.(Hons) in Economics from the University of Uyo.

Rt. Hon. Ekong began his career as a Computer Laboratory Supervisor during his NYSC at Ondo State Polytechnic, where he later served as an Assistant Lecturer (1992-1995).Transitioning into politics he was elected to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in 2007 and re-elected in 2011.In 2017, he was appointed Commissioner 1 in the Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission.

He served as the Member Representing Ikot Ekpene /Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was later appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on National Assembly Liaison.

He was appointed Hon.Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources in February 2025 and has repositioned the sector fighting doggedly against illegal mining in the State being the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Committee on Illegal Mining. As an Economist,Politician and Philanthropist, Rt.Hon Nsikak Ekong is known for his strong work ethics and communication skills.”.”
